Here's something I want you to really hear: if you want somebody who's emotionally available, that can express their feelings, that can feel their feelings—that starts with YOU.

I used to think I could attract a secure partner while completely avoiding my own emotions. Spoiler alert: it didn't work! 🙈 I kept attracting people who were just as emotionally unavailable as I was being with myself.

We get the energy that we put out there, gorgeous. If we are not acknowledging, expressing, and feeling our own emotions, we cannot attract that into our lives. You have to be willing to feel your own emotions first if you want that in others.

Think about it: How can you expect someone to be present with your feelings if you're not even present with them yourself?

What Happens When You Don't Feel Your Feelings

Let me paint you a picture of what emotional avoidance actually looks like in your body:

  • You feel more easily activated and triggered
  • You can't sleep or stay calm
  • You're constantly on edge
  • Your nervous system is dysregulated
  • You feel like you're always waiting for the other shoe to drop

When we don't feel feelings or emotions, that just causes more dysregulation in our bodies. It's like trying to hold a beach ball underwater—eventually, it's going to explode to the surface, usually at the worst possible moment! 💣

The beautiful truth? When we feel our feelings, it allows us to be more regulated. Your body literally calms down when you stop fighting what's happening inside you.
